My name is Melissa Heys.  I live in Pepperell, Massachusetts, a small rural town five (5) miles south of Nashua, New Hampshire, 60 miles northwest of Boston, MA. I live with my supportive husband and our three wonderful children. The Completed Quilt studio is located within my home.

I started quilting about 18 years ago as a true novice with no instruction, some scrap fabrics, and a sampler book I purchased at a yard sale. I taught myself some crude basics and assembled a few small quilts.  I also found pleasure in other fabric crafts including making dolls, garments, and constructing fabric puppets for a puppet company. While raising my small children, I attended nursing school at night, becoming a registered nurse in 1995.

Quilting has enhanced my life both personally and professionally. On a personal level, quilts have been a key element to decorating my home, and have made for lovely gifts for friends and family.  I have been quilting professionally for 11 years. I have sold many quilts, taught beginner quilt classes for children and adults, and started a quilt binding business, Binding My Own Business. I then purchased a Gammill Classic Long Arm Hand-Guided Quilting Machine with Stitch Regulator. In March 2004, I established The Completed Quilt.
